Capturing the magic of childhood *
Through carefully curated wardrobes and thoughtfully designed sets, we capture moments of imagination and joy. This isn’t your standard photo shoot. We do everything we can to eliminate the tears, the “say cheese” voices, and the frustrations—and instead create the possibility for true joy, exploration, and a piece of story that becomes a legacy-worthy work of art. We love to make what seems like the impossible, possible.

House of Felix is a story-driven children’s photography studio built on the belief that childhood deserves to be honored with beauty, imagination, and intention.
We specialize in creating artistic, highly stylized portraits that feel like pages from a storybook—where children are seen, celebrated, and free to be themselves. Our sets are curated, our styling is intentional, and every image is designed to feel like it belongs on the wall alongside your most treasured art.
At the heart of House of Felix is a deep respect for childhood. We don’t stage stiff poses or forced smiles—we create spaces where kids can play, explore, and simply be. Founded by photographer and creative director Mallory MacDonald, the studio is based in Seattle and serves clients locally and around the world. While Mallory currently leads most sessions, House of Felix is expanding to include a small circle of trusted photographers—each trained in our unique aesthetic and approach, and united by a shared reverence for childhood.
We work closely with each family to ensure the vision for the shoot aligns with their home, their story, and their child’s spark. We believe the best portraits aren’t just beautiful—they’re meaningful, timeless, and worthy of becoming legacy pieces.
Hello there…
After recently sorting through most of my archives, (which is now comprised of thousands of people in thousands of places) I realized something – my favorite images are of little ones between the ages of about 2-6, in environments where they feel curious, excited, in awe, imaginative, creative, at ease, or delighted. When they’re at that sweet spot in life, getting to know the wild world around them, at whatever pace they fancy.
My favorite image of myself as a little one, is this one. I was outside my great grandparents home in Cape Cod that I absolutely loved being at, and I was just in my own world. But I love the outfit as it feels timeless, and the setting, because it too seems timeless. These are the images I want to create. These are the stories I want to tell.
At this age, little ones are sponges for words, ideas, and behaviors, (whether we like it or not :) and it’s like they become inventors, musicians, artists, astronauts, and athletes – whole human beings, just little ones. With a lot of growing to do. Even if it’s “just in their head,” I believe their curiosity is often coming from their souls.
And their spirits? They’re often so intact at that age – not pre-occupied by what others think, and often not even aware I have a camera in hand, if I can help it. If they do pay attention to that, they’re not worried about what their hair, smile, teeth, look like. They might be annoyed that another adult is trying to interrupt their fun, but they don’t seem to care what it means just yet. And that sweet spot of childhood, is where my intent is to capture and preserve.
I recently watched a film where the characters were discussing all of those precious “lasts” (that we never know are the last) – the last time you rock your little one to sleep. The last time you take your bike out just for fun, no destination in mind, and then park it in the garage only to never do that again.
I’d love to capture these moments before they’re the lasts.
And I so look forward to working with you and your little one.
